“In the far future, people live 1000 meters deep underground. Technology is abundant, but life is a constant struggle. An organization sought to end this by sending people back in time to recover lost natural resources. Elcia is one of such people. As a Time Negotiator, it’s her job to travel across various dimensions and negotiate with people of the past.
However, in a strange twist of fate, Elcia accidentally stumbled upon an unknown dimension known as “Area-X” during her very first mission. Following its discovery, more bizarre incidents and conspiracies awaited her one after another - all of this eventually led to discovering the uncanny nature of the world and how it all ties to Elcia’s very own mysterious past…” (Source)
This is an indirect prequel, and takes place in the same world as Zeiva Inc’s previous game, X-Note! The demo can be played online. The full version costs USD$25.
MangaGamer.com: BL/Otome Game License Request Thread
“Please use this thread for requesting BL and Otome games you’d like to see us start licensing, as well as companies that produce them. Try and include at least one game as an example if you’re requesting a company/brand in general. Please try to limit the number of titles you request to say, 3-4. Try to give a short reason why as to better state your case.”
Recently, a new English localization company has appeared. They said they are interested in localizing games. Here’s their website: http://www.acttil.com/top_en.html
Anyways, I had contacted them at their email: ask@acttil.com I asked them about whether they would consider localizing otome games. This was their reply:
Hello,
Thank you very much for contacting us and taking an interest in acttil. We really appreciate it.
Regarding Otome games it is certainly a possibility. Wither we are able to acquire such titles from Japan depends on Idea Factory, but we are constantly looking for new and interesting games. Therefore, you’re suggestion like Norn9, Ozmafia, etc is very important to us. If we were to work on such titles we will definitely inform everybody.
Sincerely, acttil members
Then, I had asked them whether demand played a factor and here was their second reply: Hello,
We generally base our selections with the following criteria fun factor, user interest, and cost of localization. Cost of localization depends on the developer and game, but user interest can be built by fans like yourselves. If you can let us know which title has many fan followings it would help to bring a game over. I hope this info helps.
Sincerely, acttil members
From what I can tell, we should all ask for games that the majority of the otome fans would like to see in English.
So, rather than asking for several games, focus on around one or two otome games that are really popular. So what games would be a good idea to ask for? I was thinking Amnesia or Ozmafia.
Amnesia because it is one of the more well-known otome games and has an anime as well. Ozmafia because it is done by a debuting company, so I think the cost of localization would not be as high. What are your thoughts? Hopefully, we’ll be able to see more otome games in the West!
Amnesia would be a good second choice, as it is one of the top choices in the fan-created poll on Aksys Games forums (it’s already been discussed in the thread why localizing Diabolik Lovers wouldn’t be a good idea at this point).
Edit: Norn9 is another popular game which has had quite a demand for localization recently (also see here). It’s due to be released in Japan at the end of this month for the PSP.
So please, if you have a moment, please email acctil at ask@acttil.com and let them know you’d be interested in seeing OZMAFIA!!, Norn9 or Amnesia localized!
Support Otome Games in America (Part 3) Xseed’s Reponse
Xseed’s plate is a little full this year, but it’s not a definite no on the otome game front. :)
Also, I read on one of Xseed employee’s twitter that we should be specific on what titles we suggest and pick less text heavy titles around the size of Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. It has 20 hours of reading and about 380k characters. So does anyone know any otome titles that are about 20 hours long?
